C&S COMMITTEE

Please note the following C&S Committee dates for Semester 1, 2010.
As a result of the USU reporting structure all new club, Capex applications and any other documents for Committee must be submitted to the C&S Office by the dates stipulated below. Paperwork received after the date listed will be submitted for the following C&S Committee date.

BBQs on Eastern Avenue
We have been advised by Campus Infrastucture Services (CIS) effective immediately there are to be no more BBQ’s on Eastern Avenue. CIS are working on new BBQ facilities which will be located on and around the campus that should meet the needs of staff and students. You can still have BBQ’s around Manning House and in designated areas around campus – please make sure you book the area (which can be done online!) If you are not sure please come into the C&S office and ask one of the friendly C&S staff.

University Venues Office
One of the benefits of your USU membership and club affiliation is the discounted rates that apply for registered clubs wanting to hire University venues. All registered clubs are entitled to book available University rooms during lunchtime free of charge between 1pm and 2pm. Available rooms at other times are offered to USU Registered clubs at a substantially reduced rate.

Holme Common, Reading and Holme Meeting Rooms 1 and 2, the Loggia, the Isabel Fidler/Barnard Eldershaw Rooms in Manning are still free of charge. Contact the Clubs and Societies Office to book those spaces.

Publicity

Everyone including Clubs & Societies is required by law to have “The President of the USU invites you as her guest to the following event(s)” and “USU supports & encourages the responsible service of alcohol” on all our promotional material relating to events held in the bars. This includes websites, posters, flyers, etc.
 

Catering
Please note effective Monday 12 May 2008. In order for USU to meet all catering requirements, all catering requests must be provided a minimum of five working days prior to your event. Anything inside five working days will not be processed. Anyone planning on having a BBQ who has not had Food Safety training will not be permitted to hold a BBQ.
Clubs and Societies Auditor

The Auditor Office is located on Level 6 of Holme Building. Fiona Adams is your Auditor. You can contact Fiona on email or telephone . You are expected to drop off/pick audit material to this location.
 

Annual General Meetings

Club Execs are reminded when you are having your AGM you must adopt the new model constitution.
 

Clubs and Societies Office opening times STUVAC/Exams/Semester Break

The Clubs and Societies Office will be open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm outside of semester time.
 
 

University Alcohol Policy

Manning House Safety Announcement
In order to ensure equity and safety the following rules apply to groups wishing to promote their events outside Manning House.
Bookings must be made in advance through the Clubs and Societies Office
1. Only Clubs registered with the USU may apply for a space
2. Only tables supplied by the C&S Office shall be used
3. Only three groups may be represented at any one time - at the top of Manning House near the Manning Lawns; at the Main Steps Area and at the Lower Steps Area.
4. Any promotional material must be approved by the C&S Office prior to the promotion taking place and must not contravene USU or University regulations regarding the promotion of events or the distribution of advertising materials.
5. Clubs must comply with any directives of USU staff or University Security.
