50th ANNIVERSARY

Ever wondered how you could turn your creative passion for art into cash?

Then the University of Sydney Union’s Photo, Art, Literature & Music (PALM) Awards are for you!

The PALM Awards are an annual competition run by the USU, which aims to support and reward the creativity of our talented student members across a range of multimedia art forms.

PALM accepts entries in a vast range of art forms including sculpture, prose, visual art, classical music composition, short plays, photography, non-fiction articles, multi-media art, poetry, short stories, jewellery, popular music composition, haikus and more!

2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the USU’s art and literature prize, now encapsulated under the PALM Awards and with the significance of this occasion the USU is proud to announce two new PALM categories for 2010: Literature (Drama) and Music (Popular Composition), with over $13,000 in cash and prizes to be won!

Registrations open online from Friday 28 May and all works need to be uploaded by Friday 13 August. Each student is allowed to enter more than one work in each category and all entries are published online in our PALM Gallery.

The 2010 PALM Awards will also see a selection of art works exhibited in the new Verge Gallery, found in the Jane Foss Russell building. Winners will be announced at the PALM Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 7 September at the Verge Gallery.

2010 Prizes will be awarded in the following nine categories: Art (Abstract & Environment/People) Photography (Abstract & Environment/People) Literature (Poetry, Prose & Drama) Music (Classical Composition & Popular Composition) So what are you waiting for?
