The University of Sydney Union’s Australian British Parliamentary Debating Championships (a.k.a. The Sydney Mini) were held overthe weekend.

A total of 32 teams from NSW, Victoria ACT and QLD competed.

Steve Hind, the 2009 Director of Debates, extended the hand of friendship to USU arch-rivals, Monash, and formed a team with their Amit Golder. 

Together, the pair were unstoppable, Steve and Amit finished the tournament as victors.

Of the other three  teams in the finals 2 were from Sydney and one was from Melbourne.

Tim Mooney (the 2008 Worlds Contingent Captain) was named best speaker, while Steph Paton took out Best Novice.
