Keep up your playing at uni in a relaxed but professional atmosphere

We perform regularly in the spectacular Gothic-style Great Hall, and also provide members with regular opportunities to perform and collaborate with professional artists. We also have a very active social calendar for our members!

We rehearse weekly on Monday nights during semester, and always provide dinner for our members before rehearsal (FREE!)

INTERESTED? Auditions will be held during USYD O-Week (Wed 29 Feb-Fri 2 March).

Auditionees are required to:

•Perform a short, unaccompanied work (around 1-2 minutes in duration)
•Sight-read a short passage (will be provided)

Open to: Flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet, trombone, French horn, percussion and piano.
You may audition on as many instruments as you wish.

Auditions will incur a $10 fee. If your audition is not successful, you will be offered a free ticket to SUSO's first concert in 2012.

Please note: School-leavers are frequently concerned that their musical standard has slipped since sitting their year 12 exams. Please be assured that everyone is in the same situation, and that this is taken into consideration at auditions.

Standard: While the standard of musicianship fluctuates from year to year, in general, it is between AMEB Seventh Grade and AMusA Grade (or equivalent). However, these examinations/the equivalent thereof are NOT a prerequisite to audition. Within reason, SUSO encourages musicians of all playing abilities to apply.
